Riley's Poetic Writing
All of a sudden I heard an enormous yell, “Hurry up!”
“Ok,” I yelled back. It was the day to get my new dog.
“Come on Bryn,” I shouted.
“I am coming,” he shouted back in return.
He hopped in and off we went. When we got to the top secret lace as dad called it there were about seven dogs, six giant snousers and our Russian bear.
Me and Mum and Dad got a snouser. I felt amazing.

Surfers and Sharks Don't Mix
Caitlin B reports:
Yesterday the 4th of July Harry N a year 6 student at Frankley School was out for simple surf at Back Beach when it all turned bad. Three Great White Sharks can be the worst when you least expect it!
The young boy was alone when he was attacked. His rescues Kate and Narella say
“it’s amazing that he survived with major injuries rather than death”
His parents were just around the corner when the attack happened and were walking back and found themselves petrified at the sight of their son on the beach surrounded by ambulance crews and paramedics. He was bitten on both his legs and his right shoulder. His injuries lead him to major losses of blood, bone narrow and muscle tissue.
He’s in a coma and is expected to be disabled for life but he will live.

War Battlers Go Bonkers - Kate
WAR BATTLERS GO BONKERS
Three cadets go bonkers after being fed some strange pink food.
The three cadets think there are too many trees at their training base, so they go and complain to the council about the problem and the council give them the strange pink food.
They eat it straight away.
After they have eaten it they can see differently all they see is pink, when they get back to base they find all the trees have gone. Just what they want, (but they haven’t actually gone). Suddenly they have the urge to go and lift a log and stare at it cross eyed. The cadets get fired☹. They were devastated. Suddenly so surprisingly their head lolled. They were dead☹.

Army clears out fallen trees from forest
The army in camouflage cloths is clearing out the destruction made by the
two massive tornadoes that uprooted thousands of trees. (The people in the
photo are clutching the one of the 1328 trees that were ripped out of the ground
during the tornado).
A solder named James said that it was very hard work because each tree
weighed about 100 kg. It took about 5 men to each tree.
James said they had to place the tree into a massive truck that took the tree
to its next stage.
The first Tornado that struck was a 18.54 metre high monster. The second was
another monster but this time not so bad it was a 12.91 metre high tornado.

Late night swim goes horribly wrong - Emily
Late night swim goes horribly wrong
Last night at 10:00pm local boy David Rockwell was washed out to sea by asmall tsunami at Waitara beach.
Since then there has been no sign of the 17 year old boy, luckily there were three friends with him when the incident occurred. They explained “we had just came from a party and decided to have a swim to cool off, we came out but he stayed in after a couple of minutes this huge wave formed and swept him out to sea.”
Coast guards have been frantically searching for Davids body, locals have been fearing the worst and Davids family claimed
“We will not give up until we find David.”
But as the search grow and time passes by the chances of finding David seem slim and Davids family are considering calling off the search, locals are grieving overthis loss and hope nothing like this will happen again.

Netball Semi-Final
Netball
Yesterday the netball A team went to Inglewood to play their team in the semi-finals. In the end we lost but we played really well and won the second quarter and the fourth quarter. It was a really great game at one point of the game it started hailing but we were tough cookies and just ignored it. After the game we went into a warm room and had some after-noon tea. (it was delicious)We really enjoyed it and in the end they came out on top with the score being 10-6 to them.

Training for the Army - Amy
Having Fun Training for the Army
Articlewritten by Amy Morris
Mike Cloner is raining to be in the army. He said its tiring training for the army but it’s nice to have a little bit of fun and goof around with my new friends.
“The log was really heavy,” he said, “but I’m getting stronger and stronger and that’s good because we are going of for war in one month. It is a great experience to go to training camp but I certainly miss home heaps.
After the war is over I will certainly go back home and have a rest for a little while and catch up with my family and friends.
I’ve certainly had a leg up in the army and made heaps of new friends. I’ve certainly enjoyed it so far!!!

Surf's up
Surfs Up
Kate reports:
On the 28th of July a year 7 girl called Caitlin breaks world record.
She has been surfing since she was only 7 years old and she has become a professional surfer in only 4 years. She travels all over the world to places with the biggest waves like Hawaii.
Caitlin said:
“I was surfing back to shore when I saw
a fin. I was petrified I could feel razor sharp teeth digging
into my leg, at least I won’’
She was at Fitzroy beach when the disaster struck, she was heading back to shore with 100 eyes on her watching her every move, after surfing her record breaking wave. The shark came and bit her right leg off ending her future surfing dreams.
Two lifeguards raced in and called an ambulance they ran and collected her. They rushed her to hospital and called her parents who were holidaying in Fiji.
They booked the next plane to New Zealand and came and took her home to their house in Dunedin where Caitlin could spend time with her parents.
